The Deming team placed ninth out of 43 teams competing from states across the country, earning the team a Gold Medal standing.
Team member Brannick Sweetser placed 15th out of over 170 individual competitors, and he, along with team members Keri Hays and Tel Pickett were Gold Medalists in the competition, and Graham Borden was a Silver Medalist.
The team was coached by local Certified Public Accountant Tamara Hurt.
FFA members Spencer McFaul, Shelbie Peterson, Tee Pickett and Stacy Swope earned Silver Medals with their Agriscience projects in the national competition.
Courtney Hurt received her American FFA Degree at the convention – a designation awarded to less than one-percent of FFA members across the nation.
And the Deming FFA Chapter received a National Chapter Award based on its 2012-2013 Program of Activities.
The Deming High School FFA Chapter Advisor is Larry Von Tress, and the Red Mountain Middle School FFA Advisor is Susan Swope.
