Deming Community Services Director Alexi Jackson said a manufacturing delay of components that were required to be buried in the concrete pad held up the project.
And while work continues on the splash pad, Jackson said the Rainbow Park water feature is open 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every day during summer break from school. Rainbow Park is located at East Ash and South Grand streets.
Jackson also provided updates for road projects and work at the Deming Municipal Airport.
The road project at Pear Street and the construction project along Poplar Street were completed in May, and work at Oak and Myrtle is wrapping up.
Jackson said crews are now preparing to begin drainage work around the intersection of Walnut and Tennyson, and the reconstruction of Saddler, from Florida to Peach. These projects are being funded with bond money approved by voters in 2018.
And Jackson said a resurfacing and restriping project will begin on Runway 4/22 at the airport in mid-July. The project cost is approximately $175,000 in federal and state grants with a city share of five percent.
