Director Ken Leupold said the WNMU-Deming campus at 2300 East Pine will have “Day of the Dead” ofrendas – or altars – available for community preview Friday from 3-8 p.m.
Ofrendas reportedly are an essential part of the “Day of the Dead” celebrations. The word “ofrenda” means offering in Spanish and the ofrendas are set up to remember and honor the memory of ancestors.
Then, at 4 p.m. Friday, WNMU President Joseph Shepard will give a State of the University address at the La Fonda Restaurant.
And following President Shepard’s address from 5:30-8:30 p.m., there will be live music, food, community booths, games and prizes at Voiers “Pit” Park.
The community is invited to exciting live performances by Jessica Juarez and Danzantes Del Sol at the park.
Contact WNMU-Deming at 546-6556 for more information on any of Friday’s activities.
