Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Jennifer DeLaney handed down the sentence to 20-year-old Adrian Vigil who was found guilty of shooting to death his father, 66-year-old David Vigil, on November 9th, 2013, in the 300 block of South Ninth Street.
Chief Deputy Janice Shryer, who was lead prosecutor on the case, said the jury determined Vigil had mental issues that may have prevented him from forming specific intent to murder his father.
Shryer said Vigil was sent for a 60-day evaluation with the Department of Corrections, and that sentencing followed the evaluation.
Vigil was represented by Attorney Michael Rosenfield.
