According to a media release, Operation Desert Snow has five phases targeting different areas of the state in an effort to arrest violent fugitives in the area.
Marshals Service officers are working with local, county, state and tribal officials in each area to build partnerships and develop an emergency response strategy throughout the entire state.
Reportedly, Phase I began in the Farmington area in December.
Deming and Luna County were part of Phase II of the operation, which took place last Thursday through Sunday, February 19th-22nd.
Phase II included Luna, Sierra, Dona Ana, Otero and Lincoln counties.
The media release said the Marshals Service and combined local law enforcement task force members were successful in arresting 24 violent fugitives and clearing 33 warrants in the four-day operation.
Officials said Phase III will commence soon throughout the northern New Mexico area, and the remaining two phases will take place this year.
