Udall will tour the Columbus Port of Entry and hold a stakeholder meeting highlighting the importance of expanding the port. The planned expansion will address serious flooding issues, improve safety and facilitate commerce in the region.
General Services Administration (GSA) Administrator Dan Tangherlini will join the tour and hear from local leaders why the expansion is critical to economic development in Southern New Mexico.
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Services, Udall has been an advocate for the project. He recently helped secure $7.4 million to complete the design phase of the port of entry, and he continues to fight for full construction funding.
Udall will be at the Columbus Port of Entry Thursday at 1:30.
