Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said 48-year-old Molly Sanchez suffered leg, shoulder and neck injuries, and her passenger, 25-year-old Elizabeth Llamas, suffered neck injuries after the vehicle they were in was rear-ended.
Gigante said Sanchez was driving a 2003 Kia SUV east on Florida at about 4:30 p.m. Monday and had stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Santa Barbara when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2013 Mazda being driven east on Florida by 16-year-old Andrew Hernandez.
The impact was of enough force to cause the vehicle’s air bags to activate.
Hernandez was cited for following too closely.
