(Deming) -- Two local women were arrested this weekend in two separate cases of embezzlement… by two different law enforcement agencies.
First, Luna County Undersheriff Arturo Baeza said that Victoria Nichole Corralez, age 22 of Deming turned herself into Sheriff’s deputies. Corralez was arrested and charged with 1 count of embezzlement – a 4th degree felony, after allegedly taking over 19 hundred dollars cash from the Petro Truck Stop located west of Deming on Interstate 10. Baeza said that it appears Corralez learned about the investigation against her, and turned herself in at the Sheriff’s department. Her bond has been set at $7,500 cash only.
In the second but unrelated arrest, Deming Police report that Judith Duarte, age 21, of Deming was arrested on two fourth degree felony counts of embezzlement and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the police report, Duarte was employed by Wendy’s in Deming. On July 14th, She was given a bank deposit with $885 dollars to deposit at a local bank. She failed to deposit the funds, and left the state. Upon her return back to Deming July 18th, she was arrested. Her bond has been set at $16,000 dollars cash only.
