(Deming) - Two Deming performers join in a collaboration of music and storytelling The historic Tumbleweed Theater and Theatre Dojo will present a special matinee performance of An Iliad, the highly acclaimed Obie award-winning adaptation of Homer's Iliad.
This touring production of An Iliad brings together two Deming artists…Algernon D'Ammassa plays the role of the Poet with original music for guitar by John McClure. Algernon is a theatrical actor, who has appeared on film and television, and is a director, singer and teacher. He has traveled all over the U.S. and to Europe … he founded Theatre Dojo in Los Angeles, California, which combines yoga, meditation and martial arts with the performing arts.
John McClure, also based in Deming, is an actor best known for his supporting role in the 1971 action film Billy Jack, which became a cult favorite among younger audiences.
This touring production premiered at the Black Box Theatre in Las Cruces in February of this year. It has since been performed in El Paso, Texas, in North Carolina and recently had a very successful run at the Cell Theatre in Albuquerque.
