Vietnam veteran Ron Sease writes a Veteran’s Corner column for the Deming Headlight.
In last week’s column he said the Southwest New Mexico Transition Center has been working over the past eight months to expand the center’s vision and fill voids left by the closings of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars – or VFW – and the Disabled American Veterans – or DAV.
The center started in the DAV building distributing food monthly, but its mission has grown with the location change.
Sease wrote that the center is working toward uniting members of the DAV, VFW and others to establish a uniform system to aid veterans.
He identified Terry Kline as chairman and Bobby Kline as secretary.
Sease also invited veterans to visit the center in the former VFW building at 4045 Overhill Drive Northeast on the first Wednesday of the month to observe work being done and to volunteer.
