
A New Mexico State Police report said 51-year-old Idalia Dominguez of Columbus was pronounced dead Saturday evening, June 17th, after being injured in the accident which occurredMonday, June 12th, at about 4:45 p.m. on State Road 9 near mile post 130.
According to the report, Dominguez was travelling in a Ford pickup being driven by 49-year-old Amelia Dominguez when a yellow commercial motor vehicle traveling in the opposite direction had a tie-down restraint disengage from the load it was carrying and go into the women’s pickup.
Both women were injured, and Idalia Dominguez was transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in El Paso, TX, where she later died.
Officers said the commercial motor vehicle did not stop, and the driver may have been unaware of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
