The New Mexico Department of Transportation has listened to the needs of drivers and last week, provided $1.3 million for improvements. The two lane highway frequently traveled by drivers living in in the area is about to get a makeover with a micro-surfacing project. Workers are already on the roadway collecting debris and sweeping the area. The re-surfacing will begin in early February and should take about three weeks to complete.
Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales said, “The response is part of our Governor’s administration and NMDOT’s commitment to improve our state’s infrastructure and address New Mexican’s concerns. The entire state deserves to drive on safe, efficient roadways.
“I am grateful to the NMDOT for working with me in their immediate response to providing the necessary funds to address the issues on US-180. I understand a study is being implemented to determine the need for a possible four lane highway project. I want to personally thank Governor Lujan Grisham, Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales, DOT Secretary Mike Sandoval and District One Engineer Trent Doolittle for their timely response to this issue, “said Representative Rudy Martinez.
The NMDOT thanks local drivers for your patience during construction hours and reminds drivers to please use caution in the area, obey the posted speed limit and drive safely.
