31-year-old Christopher Montano is accused of beating a 17-year-old boy numerous times with a baseball bat, causing head injuries and broken bones.
Montano, who was arrested for aggravated battery at about 6 a.m. Saturday at his home in the 500 block of South Silver Street where the incident occurred, said the teen came to his home wielding the baseball bat and hit him in the head before he got the bat away from the teen and turned it on him.
Montano told officers the teen had previously dated the 23-year-old woman Montano was dating, and the teen was upset over a recent text from the woman.
The teen was stabilized by local EMS and flown straight from the airport for trauma care in El Paso. He was suffering from head injuries, broken arm bones described by officers as defensive wounds, and other injuries in the beating.
Montano called 911 and told dispatchers there may have been a murder at his house. Montano continued to hit the teen with the bat, even after officers arrived and found the teen unresponsive.
Montano received four stitches for the initial strike to his head.
