Luna County Undersheriff Arturo Baeza said Border Patrol agents alerted to the silver-colored 2005 Ford F250 extended-cab pickup after it avoided a checkpoint on State Road 146 – the road off Interstate 10 to Hachita.
Baeza said Border Patrol agents pursued the truck, which eventually was abandoned west of Columbus near milepost 59 on State Road 9.
Agents reported seeing 15 people flee from the truck into Mexico, leaving 300 bundles of marijuana weighing 325 pounds in the bed of the pickup.
A check on the truck showed it was reported stolen in Albuquerque in January of 2013.
