
(Deming) – A heavy-weight Black Face lamb raised by Avy Jo Stockton was selected as the top sheep in this year's Southwestern New Mexico State Fair.
Stockton's lamb was judged the Black Face breed champion from the heavy-weight class before winning the Grand Champion Honors.
The Reserve Grand Champion sheep was raised by Shelby Peterson. Peterson's sheep was the Black Face breed reserve champion and came from the medium-weight class.
Peterson also raised both the breed champion and reserve breed champion Cross lambs.
Sealy Kuenstler raised the first-place light-weight lamb… and Annie Kuenstler raised the first-place medium-light lamb
Other youth raising lambs which placed in the top three of their respective classes were: Graham Borden… Kari Dominguez… Josie Jackson… Presley Jackson… Kassidie Jackson… and Dylan Smyer.
A medium-weight goat raised by Amanda Borden was selected as the Grand Champion during the Deming fair's goat show.
The Reserve Grand Champion goat was a medium-light-weight raised by Maison Treadwell.
Darian Zachek raised the first-place light-weight goat… Keri Hays raised the first-place medium-heavy goat… and Ashton Treadwell raised the first-place heavy-weight goat.
Other youth raising goats which placed in the top three of their respective classes were: Brent Hays… Cooper Jackson… Kevi McWright… Dylan Smyer… Shandi Treadwell… and Starlyn Treadwell.
The Grand Champion rabbit was raised by Stacy Swope… and the Reserve Grand Champion rabbit was raised by Lynette VonTress.
And the Grand Champion cake was baked by Monique Willis.
