
(Deming) -- A medium-heavy-weight Black Face lamb raised by Shelbie Peterson was selected as the top sheep in this year's Southwestern New Mexico State Fair.
Peterson's lamb was judged the Black Face breed champion before winning the Grand Champion Honors.
The Reserve Grand Champion sheep was raised by Sealy Kuenstler. Kuenstler's sheep was the Black Face breed reserve champion and also came from the medium-heavy-weight class.
Kassidie Jackson raised the breed champion Cross lamb... and Dylan Smyer raised the reserve breed champion Cross lamb.
Other youth raising lambs which placed in the top three of their respective classes were:Amanda
Borden… Graham Borden… Keri Hays… Annie Kuenstler… Cooper Jackson… Presley Jackson… Riley Patterson… and Avy Jo Stockton.
A light-weight goat raised by Amanda Borden was selected as the Grand Champion during the Deming fair's goat show.
The Reserve Grand Champion goat was a medium-heavy-weight raised by Dalton Trantham.
Other youth raising goats which placed in the top three of their respective classes were:Keri
Hays… Ashton Treadwell… Dylan Smyer… Stephanie Swope… and Darian Zachek.
The Grand Champion rabbit was raised by Megan Phillips... and the Reserve Grand Champion rabbit was raised by Lynette VonTress.
And the Grand Champion cake was baked by Stephanie Swope.
