(Deming) – Southern New Mexico State Fair officials are working to correct misconceptions about entries in the Las Cruces fair.
Veteran’s Building Superintendent Sharon Sevachko said some people have been led to believe that entering non-livestock items in the fair requires membership or special invitations.
Sevachko said that is untrue.
She said any resident of Luna, Hidalgo, Catron, Grant, Otero, Sierra or Dona Ana counties in New Mexico, or El Paso County in Texas, can enter any artwork, garden produce, photographs, ceramics, canning, baking, quilting, sewing, knitting, crafting, woodwork, metal work and more.
Sevachko said the entry must have been created during the previous year.
Most entries will be accepted on Monday, September 30th, with the exception of baking, which will be accepted on Wednesday, October 2nd, adult photography, which will be accepted on Saturday, September 28th, and quilting entries which will be accepted on Sunday, September 29th.
