The class is limited to 12 participants.
The class, now in its 14th year, introduces students to the specialized vocabulary of solar electricity plus how to harness the sun's energy to pump your well, power part or all of your house or small business, save money on household energy expenses, and make your electric meter spin backwards or remove it all together.
Reportedly, home-made solar electricity is more affordable than ever, thanks to the recent 80% collapse of solar panel prices.
The five-week class will meet on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at the Luna County Extension Office, beginning October 23rd and running through November 20th. A field trip to some local solar installations is scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd.
There are no quizzes, and no college credit is earned through the course.
There is a fee of $50 to cover books and handouts.
To register, contact the Luna County Extension Office at 546-8806.
