Gannaway said people are receiving calls by someone claiming to be a Luna County Sheriff’s deputy who says he or she has an arrest warrant for the call recipient because the person failed to report for jury duty.
Gannaway said his deputies do not make phone calls of that nature, and anyone receiving such a call should notify a local law enforcement agency.
As always, anyone questioning the legitimacy of a caller should ask for a call-back number and other contact information, and residents are reminded to never give personal information such as social security numbers or bank account information over the phone unless they are certain they are talking to a legitimate official.
