
Of those seven, three currently work for Deming Public Schools and four work outside the district.
The successful candidate will succeed Dr. Dan Lere, who is retiring at the end of June.
The in-district candidates are, alphabetically, Director of Federal Programs Michael Chavez, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Fred Parker, and Assistant Superintendent Ray Trejo.
The out-of-district candidates are, alphabetically, John Bustos, who currently serves as West Las Vegas, NM, School District principal… Anthony Fairley, the Albuquerque Public Schools Home Hospital Instructional Services principal… Dr. Greg Rockhold, who is the assistant principal and athletic director for Heizer Middle School in Hobbs… and Dr. Arsenio Romero, who is the turnaround leader and executive coach of Principals Pursuing Excellence in Roswell.
This Thursday, April 6th, at 5 p.m. the school board is holding a community input session on the selection of the next superintendent in the board room of the Emmett Shockley Administration Building, 400 Cody Rd. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend and give input.
Interviews for the position will be held on Friday, April 7th, for in-district candidates and Tuesday, April 11th, for out-of-district candidates.
