
The investment was part of nearly $1.2 million in funding in July to create 427 jobs and nearly $454,000 in August to create 52 jobs across New Mexico.
The local investment was in Compass Components, Inc., a privately held manufacturing services and distribution company that officials say is a leading provider of custom electromechanical contract manufacturing and assembly, design and engineering, cable and harness assembly, and integration services.
The Job Training Incentive Program board last month awarded $44,520 to Compass Components to aid in the creation of 20 jobs at its plant in the Deming Industrial Park.
The Job Training Incentive Program reimburses qualified economic-based companies for a portion of training costs associated with job creation.
To qualify, new or expanding companies must either create a product in New Mexico, or provide a nonretail service with 50 percent of the company's customer or revenue base outside of the state.
