DPS Student Nutrition Director Ginger Jones said the lunches, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are free of charge to all youth between 1-18 years of age. Serving meals to parents or other adults is not permitted.
Lunches will be served weekdays at four Luna County parks from June 11th through July 27th, 2018, excluding Wednesday, July 4th.
Lunches will be served in Deming at Scout Park - 800 S. Granite, John T. Waits Park – on the corner of Fourth and Zinc, and BMX Park – on the corner of Poplar and Grand, and in Columbus at Columbus Village Plaza Park – 207 Broadway.
To receive a free meal through the program, children simply need to show up at serving time, which is 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. No registration or proof of income or age is required.
The school district is not eligible for reimbursement for any full or partial meals taken off-site, and children cannot receive “seconds” until all other children have been served one complete meal.
Anyone with questions on the Deming Public Schools’ Seamless Summer Lunch Program may contact Jones at 546-2522 or by mail at 1001 South Diamond, Deming, 88030.
Again, summer lunches will begin being served Monday, June 11th.
