PNM Line Department Supervisor Dale Stevens said rain water got into a bad insulator, causing the area substation to trip off and power to be interrupted to about 425 customers – including the two schools – at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday.
School officials began notifying parents and the media about the delayed start at about 7:30 a.m. when power had not yet been restored and the schools were without light and heat.
Power was fully restored by 9 a.m.
