
Included on the agenda are memorandums of understanding with Dona Ana Community College and MESA, a service agreement with the city of Deming for school resource officers, a University of Virginia School Turnaround Program agreement, school advisory council memberships, resolutions to recognize September as Attendance Awareness Month and to hold a surplus sale, a proclamation recognizing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and six budget adjustment requests.
Also, Superintendent Dr. Arsenio Romero will present the board with a new policy addressing medical cannabis use for qualified students in schools, as well as updates on instruction and curriculum, human resources, finance, and construction.
Again, the Deming School Board’s regular monthly meeting will begin at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19th, in the board room of the Emmett Shockley Administration Building, 400 Cody Road.
The meeting will be open to the public.
The regular monthly meeting will be preceded by an executive – or closed session – at 4 p.m. Thursday.
The purpose of the executive session is for the board to discuss limited personnel matters, receive an update on pending or threatened litigation regarding a complaint to recover damages and collective bargaining, and the acquisition or disposal of real property.
