MoMo was only 18 when he was killed in a September 2009 accident north of Deming after his vehicle struck a horse on a dark road.
He had been helping his sister with a flat tire.
The Rockin’ the Streets Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established in memory of MoMo, celebrating the young man’s kind, courteous, respectful, friendly, and helpful personality.
The name “Rockin’ the Streets” was to be the name of a truck club MoMo was organizing at the time of his death.
Family members picked up Rockin’ the Streets, used the logo MoMo had had designed, and developed a non-profit, now known as the Rockin’ the Streets Foundation.
The annual bike run has drawn close to 500 participants from as far away as California, New York, Illinois, Texas, and Arizona, as well as all over New Mexico.
Proceeds from the event go to scholarships, to assist children with medical expenses, and to other charities.
The 9th Annual Rockin’ the Streets Bike Run will be held Saturday, September 15th.
