57-year-old Rick Reese and 25-year-old Ryin Reese were released Tuesday afternoon after meeting conditions of release ordered by a federal judge.
In a ruling issued last Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Brack granted the Reeses a new trial – reversing convictions against three family members – and approved a motion for conditional
release.
Jason Bowles, attorney for Ryin Reese, said his client and Rick Reese were set to be released last week, but the detention center didn’t have enough ankle monitors at the time.
He added that the Reeses had to wait at least three additional days in jail, bringing their total days of incarceration to 524.
The Reeses are restricted from possessing firearms during their pretrial release.
Last August, a jury convicted Rick Reese, his wife Terri, and their son Ryin on four counts of making false statements on investigation forms after a firearms sting.
Terri Reese was placed on conditional release last February.Another son, Remington, was acquitted on all charges.
