DHS Academic Advisor Yvonne Perales said 17-year-old Tania Ramos, who commutes to WNMU daily, is at the top of her college welding class.
WNMU’s School of Applied Technology offers students certifications in trade positions such as welding, carpentry and electrical.
Perales said Ramos will graduate from DHS next month and from WNMU in May of 2018.
When Ramos graduates from Deming High she will already have one year of college welding completed – an exceptional feat for any student but even more so for Ramos, who is a teen mother and the only female in the welding program.
Ramos said her dream job is to work for the pipelines or the mines and make enough money to provide for her and her family. Her goals include getting a house and being at the top of her class.
