A flyer disseminated by Luna County officials said Preferred Produce will make an expansion and jobs announcement Friday at 2 p.m.
Preferred Produce bills itself as a local, certified organic grower specializing in sustainable and socially responsible agriculture.
The business has state-of-the-art greenhouses which use alternative energy for heating and cooling, recycle water, and harvest nutrients for creating proprietary fertilizer blends.
Preferred Produce officials say their business model has a negative carbon foot print, meaning their plants absorb more carbon than the business emits.
And, they say, they are working to build a full-time team earning living wages which will help Luna County.
The Preferred Produce expansion and jobs announcement is supported by the New Mexico Economic Development Department and Luna County Community and Economic Development.
