Commissioner Sandy Jones said he wants to gather comments from residents in southern New Mexico on Public Service Co. of New Mexico's proposal.
The utility reached a settlement last month with the New Mexico Attorney General's Office and other groups that would result in higher rates being phased in over the next two years.
Residential customers would see an annual increase of 3.9 percent in 2018 and an additional 3.4 percent in 2019 – for a total increase of 7.3 percent over two years.
The commission still has to approve the settlement.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, June 13th, from 3-6 p.m. in the commission chambers, located on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse, 700 S. Silver Ave. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
