DEMING - Move over Kansas.. will Luna county in New Mexico become the next region to grow Sunflowers?
NuSeeds, a company with offices all across the Midwest, will be in Deming March 4th to talk with local farmers about the possibility of producing sunflowers in Luna County.
Luna County Extension Agent Jack Blandford told Deming Radio News that that the effort is to diversity crops grown here.
NuSeeds is interested in wanting to come to the county for local sunflowers to be produced in Luna County for Sunflower oil or other byproducts of sunflowers.
Blandford said at this time, there are no large sunflower fields in Luna County.
