
Deming) – A man caught burglarizing a vehicle, then fleeing and wrecking his automobile, is still at large after escaping custody earlier this month.
Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said they are asking for the public’s help in finding 23-year-old Daniel Pena, who is wanted for aggravated burglary, breaking and entering, aggravated fleeing, escape from custody, resisting or evading officers, concealing his identity, larceny, disposing of stolen property and on a probation violation.
Gigante said they received a call on April 10th that someone was breaking into a vehicle in the 600 block of Santa Monica.
Pena drove off from the crime scene at a high rate of speed, lost control of his car and crashed into a brick wall near Calle Jaime and East Birch, then took off on foot and was found hiding nearby.
Pena was in the process of being taken to the hospital for medical clearance when he somehow got the window on the police unit down and escaped from custody.
