
Superintendent Harvielee Moore said the fire was set in a trash can outside the school building, but smoke entered the building through vents.
Deming Police Chief Michael Carillo said officials estimated about $1,000 in fire damage to the outside wall of the school as well.
Carillo said several teens were seen running from the school, and his officers are continuing to
investigate.
Moore said the district will offer a reward for information leading to charges against the person or person who set the fire.Tips may be made to school personnel, the Deming Police
