(Deming) – A pair of Luna County brothers just brought home three State 4-H Rodeo Championships.
Tee Pickett, a Deming High sophomore, is the 2013 Junior Calf Roping Champion and the 2013 Junior Team Roping Heeler Champion, while his older brother Tel Pickett, a 2013 Deming High graduate, is the 2013 Senior Team Roping Header Champion.
The 2013 New Mexico State 4-H Rodeo Finals were hosted by Cibola County 4-H in Grants this past weekend.
Tee Pickett also placed second in Junior Team Roping Heading and fifth in Junior Ribbon Roping.
Tel Pickett also placed fifth in Senior Team Roping Heeling, sixth in Senior Ribbon Roping and eighth in Senior Calf Roping.
In addition, Tel, who is a freshman at New Mexico State University, received a New Mexico 4-H Rodeo Scholarship.
Also competing this past weekend from Luna County were Taylor Scepka, who placed sixth in Senior Barrels and 15th in Senior Breakaway… and Raul Perea who placed eighth in Senior Team Roping Heeling, ninth in Senior Team Roping Heading and 11th in Senior Breakaway.
