The workshop will be held at La Fonda Restaurant beginning at 8 a.m. with a private pesticide applicators test at 3 p.m. for an additional $15. The manual for the private test is available at the NMDA’s website.
Deadline to register for the workshop is December 17th.
The workshop will feature experts from NMSU and the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, covering topics about disease management, identifying invasive weeds, control techniques and applying pesticides.
The first lecture will feature NMSU Extension vegetable specialist Stephanie Walker who will speak about vegetable diseases and management, followed by NMDA’s Jim Wanstall who will talk about identifying weeds and weed management.
Greg Alpers of Dow Agro Sciences will cover several topics including rangeland management.
After lunch, NMSU Extension entomologist Carol Sutherland will give pest updates, and the last lecture will be given by Otero County Extension agent Tom Dominguez on pesticide application, including measuring and mixing.
Five continuing education units will be awarded for individuals who are licensed.
