Officials with The Healing House, Deming’s domestic violence program and emergency shelter, started the month-long recognition by tying purple ribbons on lights, trees and signs throughout downtown Deming. Purple is the color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Healing House also is sponsoring “Fun in the Park” on Wednesday, October 28th, from 6-8 p.m.
The event will feature food, drink, music, games, a cupcake walk, face painting, door prizes, a jumping balloon, an information booth and more.
Following the “Fun in the Park” celebration will be a candlelight vigil.
The candlelight vigil is an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance of those who have lost their lives, to offer support to survivors of abuse and to take a stand against domestic violence in Deming and Luna County.
