The open house is being held to celebrate the completion of construction of the homes bought by Ms. Yvonne Marquez and Ms. Marianna Wheeler through USDA Rural Development’s housing program.
Also, the Southwestern Regional Housing and Community Development Corporation (SRHCDC) is being honored for providing homeownership education and technical assistance to the two women and others seeking homeownership and business development in southern New Mexico. The partnership between SRHCDC and Rural Development has expanded in conjunction with USDA’s StrikeForce initiative where partnerships such as this one allows residents to better access the funding and technical assistance offered by the department.
Undersecretary O’Brien is joining State Director Brunner on a tour of southern New Mexico projects and meetings with various community leaders to discuss the further development of partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the StrikeForce initiative which focuses the department’s resources to high poverty areas throughout the state.
