Mountain View Apartments at 1101 Shelly Drive were renovated and brought into compliance with ADA and Enterprise Green Communities standards through a $3.4 million rehabilitation project.
The Mountain View Apartments project was awarded $5.1 million through the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.Another $1.1 million was awarded
through the New Mexico Housing Trust Fund and HUD HOME Investment Partnership.
USDA Rural Development provided $672,000 to the project. YES Housing used $3.4 million to acquire the property, which they are obligated to keep as low-income housing for 45 years.
Upgrades to the apartments included new roofs, furnaces and water heaters… new windows, insulation and water conserving fixtures… xeriscape landscaping with a drip irrigation system… and a 4.8kwh solar photovoltaic system on the community building.
Residents of the apartment complex were joined by project developers and housing and finance officials as they celebrated the reopening of the facility last week.
