The units, and four others purchased last summer, were paid for through a federal grant from the Emergency Management Office.
The lifesaving tools are used in conjunction with CPR to help a person having a heart attack.
The new defibrillators have been installed in the Mimbres Valley Learning and Special Events Center, the Sixth Judicial District Courthouse and the Luna County Sheriff’s Department substation in Columbus.
Units had previously been installed in the commission chambers on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse, at the Starmax Entertainment Complex, at the Deming Senior Center, and a fourth unit was given to the Luna County Sheriff’s Department patrol division to relay from shift to shift.
The grant to purchase the defibrillators was awarded to the Luna County Emergency Services Division.
The units were purchased from Cardiac Science and information about the units is available at www.cardiacscience.com.
