
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a June unemployment rate of 16%, down from the May revised rate of 17.9%, and down from the June 2014 rate of 16.5%.
Luna was one of three counties in the state with double-digit unemployment in June – with McKinley County having 11% unemployment, and Mora County having 10.1% unemployment.
Rounding out the top five were Torrance County at 9.6% and Sierra County at 9.3%
In our area, Grant County had 7.1% unemployment in June, Hidalgo County had 7.2% and the Las Cruces area had 8.2%.
The county with the least unemployment remained Los Alamos with 4.8%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.4% in June – up slightly from May.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,946 – with 9,194 employed and 1,752 unemployed.
