
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a July unemployment rate of 15.1%, down from the June revised rate of 16%, and down from the July 2014 rate of 16.2%.
Luna was one of two counties in the state with double-digit unemployment in July; the other county was McKinley with 11.3% unemployment.
Rounding out the top five were Mora at 9.8%, and Taos and Torrance, both at 9.6%.
In our area, Grant County had 7.1% unemployment in July, Hidalgo County had 6.6% and the Las Cruces area had 8%.
The county with the least unemployment remained Los Alamos with 4.4%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.5% in July – up slightly from June.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,868 – with 9,225 employed and 1,643 unemployed.
