
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a June unemployment rate of 9%, down from the revised May rate of 10.5%, and down considerably from the June 2017 rate of 12%.
Torrance County was second in the state in unemployment in June, at 7.7%, followed closely by McKinley at 7.6%.
In our area, Grant County had 5.1% unemployment in June, Hidalgo County had 4%, and the Las Cruces area had 6%.
The county with the least unemployment in June was Union at 3.4%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.9% in June – down slightly from May.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 11,158 – with 10,150 employed and 1,008 unemployed.
