
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a July unemployment rate of 8%, down from the revised June rate of 9.1%, and down considerably from the July 2017 rate of 10.2%.
McKinley County was second in the state in unemployment in July at 7.6%, followed by Torrance County at 7.1%.
In our area, Grant County had 5.1% unemployment in July, Hidalgo County had 3.7%, and the Las Cruces area had 5.8%.
The county with the least unemployment in July was Los Alamos at 3.4%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.7% in July – down slightly from June.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 11,288 – with 10,388 employed and 900 unemployed.
