
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with an October unemployment rate of 10.3%, up slightly from the September rate of 9.8%, but down from the October 2015 rate of 12.5%.
Luna is once again the only county in the state with double-digit unemployment.
Other counties with high unemployment in October were Lea at 9.4%, McKinley at 8.8%, Torrance at 8.4%, the Farmington area and Cibola at 8.3%, and Taos at 8.2%.
In our area, Grant County had 6.4% unemployment in October, Hidalgo County had 5.2% and the Las Cruces area had 6.5%.
The county with the least unemployment was Los Alamos at 4.4%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.7% in October – the same rate as September.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,274 – with 9,220 employed and 1,054 unemployed.
