Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of
Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a November unemployment rate of 6.1%.
That figure is higher than October’s revised rate of 11.9%, but down from last November’s rate of 16.5%.
Following Luna County in the list of New Mexico counties with the worst unemployment is Mora County with 12.6%.
Those were the only two counties in the state with unemployment greater than 10%.
Rounding out the top five are Guadalupe and Taos at 8.2%, and McKinley at 7.7%.
In our area: Grant County had 6.4% unemployment in November, Hidalgo County had 4.2%, and the Las Cruces area had 6.1%.
The county with the least unemployment remains Los Alamos with 3.2%.
The state unemployment rate for November – at 6.2% – was down slightly from the October revised rate of 6.3%.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 12,240 – with 10,275 employed and 1,965 unemployed.
