
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a September unemployment rate of 7.7%, down slightly from the revised August rate of 8%, and down considerably from the September 2017 rate of 10%.
McKinley County was second in the state in unemployment in September at 6.9%, followed by Torrance County at 6.7%.
In our area, Grant County had 4.7% unemployment in September, Hidalgo County had 3.4%, and the Las Cruces area had 5.2%.
The county with the least unemployment in September was Los Alamos at 3.1%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.6% in September – unchanged from August.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,754 – with 9,925 employed and 829 unemployed.
