
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with an October unemployment rate of 8.3%, up slightly from the September rate of 8.2%, but down from the October 2018 rate of 8.5%.
Luna remained the county with the highest unemployment in the state.
The next closest county in unemployment last month was McKinley at 6.6%.
In our area, Hidalgo County had 4% unemployment, Grant had 4.4%, and the Las Cruces area had 5%.
Los Alamos and Eddy counties tied for the lowest unemployment last month at 3.1%.
Unemployment statewide was 4.8% in October – down slightly from September.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 9,997 – with 9,167 employed and 830 unemployed.
