
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a March unemployment rate of 17.5%, down from the February revised rate of 18.6%, and down from the March 2015 rate of 21.2%.
Luna remains the only county in the state with double-digit unemployment.
Other counties with high unemployment last month were Mora and Sierra – both at 8.7%, and McKinley at 8.5%.
In our area, Grant County had 6.1% unemployment last month, Hidalgo County had 5.6% and the Las Cruces area had 7%.
The county with the least unemployment remained Los Alamos with 3.8%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.2% in March – down slightly from February.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,042 – with 8,282 employed and 1,760 unemployed.
