
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a February unemployment rate of 18.6%, down from the January revised rate of 20.7%, and down from the February 2015 rate of 21.2%.
Luna was the only county in the state with double-digit unemployment in February.
Other counties with high unemployment last month were Catron at 9.5%, and Mora and Sierra – both at 9.3%.
In our area, Grant County had 6.6% unemployment last month, Hidalgo County had 6.3% and the Las Cruces area had 7.1%.
The county with the least unemployment remained Los Alamos with 4%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.4% in February – down slightly from January.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,028 – with 8,160 employed and 1,868 unemployed.
