Association members are expected to arrive in Deming on Sunday, June 15th. The conference runs through Thursday, June 19th.
Former Luna County Manager Kelly Kuenstler is the local coordinator for the event and said she has 35 committee members from around Luna County who are assisting with the coordination efforts.
County officials said the conference will boost the Luna County economy.
Motels in the Deming area reportedly have contracts for over 500 rooms and many restaurants around the area will be catering the conference. There are numerous facilities around the county that will be used for special events during the week as well.
Plus restaurants, gasoline stations and retail businesses should enjoy a spike in revenue with the out-of-town visitors.
The Luna County commissioners successfully lobbied the New Mexico Association of Counties board last year to host the event in Deming.
Kuenstler said the community support has been overwhelming.
County Manager Tink Jackson said he plans on releasing the total gross receipts benefits for Luna County and the City of Deming from this event as soon as the information becomes available.
