
Sheriff’s Captain Michael Brown confirmed that Chavez died Monday afternoon from a single gunshot wound to the torso.
Brown said investigators have interviewed several persons of interest in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
Deputies were called to a mobile home in the 1500 block of O’Kelley Road at 12:35 p.m. Monday, June 18th, following a report of shots being fired.
Chavez was found inside the mobile home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Mimbres Memorial Hospital where he later died.
